About us

Two sisters from a little town in rural South Georgia had a small dream which quickly became an enormous, successful reality in Steel Southern Designs. Janet Sexton, a former cosmetologist/salon owner and her younger sister, Sharanda Hurst, a radiologic technologist at a local hospital decided they wanted to spend more time with their small children and families.  After much prayer and soul-searching they conceived a business plan and put it into action.  With this plan, Steel Southern Designs was born and executed in their own backyard.

Under the tutelage of Janet's husband, Bryan, a talented professional welder, fabricator and artisan in his own right, the sisters began developing their craft.  In the beginning, they spent many long and hard hours preparing seasonal and decorative yard signs and door hangers.  Then soon needed and purchased a 5' x 10' CNC plasma table and software to execute their designs.  Using a variety of metals including aluminum, stainless and mild steel they can design and craft anything your heart desires.  Their talents are limitless.  These craftsmen complete the welding, grinding and painting of all their designs and products entirely by hand.
